The purpose of this research paper is to discover the problems that older users may encounter when using public transport and to discuss how to provide a better bus experience for older people. Three methods of data collection were used: field observation, user interviews and focus groups.
Major project
Discussing How to provide a better bus experience for seniors
Frequency of words used by the users interviewed
This is the result of a data analysis of the content of the 11 participants, which shows that people care more about the bus experience.
The parts that the users interviewed think could be improved
This is a word cloud analysis using nvivo after selecting the parts that could be improved, inconveniences, influencing factors, problems and unsafe parts.
Hierarchy chart
It can be seen that older people mention the most in terms of insecurity, problems encountered and the inconvenience part. This was followed by factors influencing the choice to use the bus and the parts that could be improved on board.
Points
When older people rated their experience of using the bus, 45% of participants gave a score of 3, 36% gave a score of 4 and 18% gave a score of 5 out of 5.
age
It can be seen that the older people who chose to be interviewed were all evenly distributed between the age ranges of 65-70, 70-75 and 75-80. Two other participants did not wish to reveal their age, but were visually estimated to be in their 70s.
