The Brand Identity
The line between genuine photos and edited photos is growing increasingly difficult to recognise on social media sites where body modifying camera filters have become commonplace. Rather than offer camera filters that modify facial features, Bloom encourage young women to embrace their appearance, and instead, use virtual adornments.
Modelling Flowers
A key visual element of Bloom, flowers symbolise the blossoming of feminine beauty, and thus were the perfect symbol to base virtual adornments and accessories from. Variegated tulips, carnations and daffodils were modelled using Cinema 4D to create digital assets that could be used in the AR camera filters.
Modelling The Feminine Form
Generating models for her app, Chuhan's initial experiments of a generic feminine bodies evolved from slender figures to more-rounded forms. The 3D bodies were created using Cinema 4D, exploring different textures and compositions that would simulate the AR filters on the user.
Augmented Reality (AR) Design
The ideation process of the virtual adornments and accessories began with a series of sketches which were then modelled in 3D softwares, and then completed in Procreate. Reality Composer was then used to configure the digital assets for the camera filter.
User Interface (UI) Wireframing
UI design required some trial and error to conclude which series of interactions would offer the user the greater experience.
User Interface (UI) Mock-Ups
The final part of the process was to simulate how the app would look on smartphones. The video below demonstrates how the app works.
