Token Tracker
The Main Characters
The game’s backstory revolves around a city is plagued by evil forces and three teenage protagonists: Olivia, Ruo Xuan, and Saif. With the help and guidance of deities and ancestors, the three fight in order to save their city and friends. Giulia focused on working inclusivity and cultural appreciation in every element of the game and thus opted for a variety of backgrounds, body types and genders for her characters.
The Gameplay
Token Tracker is a loot box / gatcha game that centres on generating a score based on the number of tiles tapped within a time limit. The game offers different features to enhance this basic game principle in the form of power-ups and tile layouts. Completing levels rewards the player with a currency called “Tokens” that can be used to obtain power-ups in the form of cultural objects or historical figures.
The Summoning Screen
Power-ups can be acquired through ‘guides’: characters based on historical figures that can be obtained through loot boxes. Guides are sorted into categorises that players can choose from each of which have a level system increasing the card's sale value and power-up effectiveness.
The Artefacts
Another power-up that can be deployed in the main game is an artefact. Similarly to guides, artefacts reflect real museum items and can be won through loot boxes. Using geo-location, the game offers different guides and artefacts to reflect contents of the museum users are closest to.
The Loot Boxes
After completing a level, and earning “Tokens” a player can buy loot boxes. The more expensive the loot box the more characters can be collected.
Google Play Store Mock-Up
These advertisement mock-ups were conceived to be shown on online stores such as the Google App platform.
